Lobe Piercing Action…
George had never been pierced before, so decided on getting his lobes pierced with the idea to stretch them in future…
Here’s El Capitan VS. George w/some ear lobe piercing action.
- Blue pen out, marking up; all important to get the positioning aesthetically pleasing as well as level and straight.
For a first piercing, George looks pretty relaxed.
- Clamp the lobe with a mini clamp and pierced w/1.6mm needle.
Now all smiles…
- After removing the needle from the canula, snip the canula down at an angle to bite the jewellery thread.
Right side done. Now for the pair…
Left side done.
- Fit the jewellrey into the suspended canula and ease through the pierced lobe leaving just the bar, thread fix the ball on to finish.
George was pierced w/1.6mm x 8mm blackline titanium labret bars w/5mm balls.
All in all, George took it well and enjoyed his first piercing experience ~ no doubt, no less @ Shiva Piercings w/El Capitan.
Special Thanks to Kelly Fitzsimmons for taking the photographs.

Tongue-Web Piercing Action…
So one Sunday the crew decides to go for some piercings after work, whilst we’re still in the old studio, no.24 Church St.
Here’s El Capitan VS. Miss Jones w/some tongue-web piercing action, which is the frenulum under the tongue.
- Open wide and use a mini-clamp to grip the frenulum.
- I used a 1.2mm needle, for which went through above, note my girl is ice kool.
Familiar to me because it’s what I do and I’d also pierced Shanice’s smiley at some point, the year before…
- Removing the needle and cutting down the canula.
I’ve pierced I think five of Shanice’s twelve piercings so far, so I am told…
- Fitting the jewellery, a 1.2mm x 8mm curved bar.
I usually pierce tongue-webs with a straight bar, the curved bar was a bit of a swerve ball angle wise and it’s a tricky piercing regardless.
- Trying to keep the bar steady when the mouth is filling up with saliva, to put the ball on; is a challenge.
The bar actually slid out at least twice due to the saliva drool build up, but Shanice was calm as standard.
- Once threaded, tighten that ball real good; so it doesn’t come off.
The tongue-web is the lower bar on show, 1.2mm x 8mm. The snake eyes/scoop piercing above; was not pierced by me. ✌
Special Thanks to Kelly Fitzsimmons for taking the photographs.

2013 was another busy year of piercing for me, more so for finally setting up a gallery @ instagram.com/el_capitan_body_piercer and of course managing Shiva throughout a period of transition whereby the shop and studios were moved after an incredibly successful fifteen years located in Church St as a thriving independent business.
The move was planned since July 2013 and thus it was a long six months in re-working what was the old Emporium, vintage clothes shop for 30yrs; into the new slicker Shiva.
We didn’t move until January 2014 and a big shout out to all the current Shiva crew members who oversaw it all.
After workin’ it n’ workin’ it, here’s a few random shots (literally) of some of us before it got messy…
No matter what the rota, line up, substitutions, changes over the years at Shiva, always been lucky to work with and meet some wonderful people.
We all different, we all the same, we all whatever.
Always love though, for which I’ve been fortunate to make some good friends… and family, we work together.
My crew hold it down, whatever the weather; no matter what given line-up… this crew gon’ run from who?
