Here’s a dermal anchor from 2012 set on the middle finger. No need to put a ring on it… with these, I do strongly suggest considering (with any dermal or surface piercing) the idea of placement and long term healing/rejecting.
Colourful Change…
Custom Piercing w/Colourful BCR.
Here’s another photo of the customer who had the double piercing w/BCR. Changed the standard titanium one for a more colourful look! I was really happy with this piercing and have done a few more, though still prefer to use bars when piercing. This customer goes to show though, that if you look after a piercing; it should heal fine. I usually recommend at least 2-3 months minimum with regards to changing jewellery from when you were pierced, but it depends and some piercings/people can take longer.

Custom Work w/BCR
Custom Work: Double Cartilage Piercing w/BCR.
This was the first (2011) and rare a time I do this. Usually I would recommend bars only and in some cases, one piercing at a time for some people; but this was two piercings done at the same time and fitted with a BCR (Ball Closure Ring) It’s kind of hard to do because if you don’t get your measurements right, it can warp/stress the ear and inevitably get infected/never heal. This was however perfect and healed accordingly.

Here’s a long shot of some early daze work on my old friend Rick. A collection of tragus, top ear and some more custom work with my first translobe/industrial lobe piercing(s).
Custom Work (Tragus to Rim/Industrial Effect w/PTFE)

As this was custom work we had to wait and see the results of healing as any Industrial/Scaffold piercing can take it’s time. However in this case the bar was starting to grow outwards from the tragus, so here is a photo reworked with 1.6mm PTFE plastic. We also changed the balls to plastic to make the jewellery overall more lighter to give it a better chance to heal. Notice the considerable swelling, have to say this client was brilliant and I am only more than happy to try something piercing wise that is a challenge.

This was an awesome request by a real nice lady early on in my piercing career. Similar to a scaffold or an industrial piercing, rather than forward helix to rim; we went through the tragus to the top ear/rim with a titanium scaffold bar.
